NEWBERRY - Austin Kelto of Munising High School was a one-man wrecking crew against host Newberry on Friday night.
The junior quarterback ran for three touchdowns, passed for another and kicked the winning extra point with 1:57 left in the game to give the Mustangs a 28-27 Mid-Eastern Football Conference victory over the Indians.
Kelto ran for scores of 29, 65 and 1 yard, and completed an 11-yard TD pass to Colin Immel for Munising (1-3 overall, 1-2 league).
Kelto wound up with a game-high 194 yards rushing on 21 carries, and went 14-for-25 passing for 115 yards.
"We had them fourth-and-21 late in the game and they threw a 'Hail Mary' pass into the end zone, which we knocked down," Newberry head coach Fred Bryant said. "But there was a pass interference penalty, which gave them another chance."
Bryant said the Mustangs then got the first down and Kelto punched it over from the 1 yard line with less than two minutes left.
Chris Ducsay scored twice for the Indians on runs of 39 and 53 yards. He finished with 165 yards rushing on 17 attempts.
Austin Barry scored the other Newberry TD with a 90-yard kickoff return in the second quarter.
