MARQUETTE - Marquette finished with a 3-5 record and didn't advance in pool play at The Rock Invitational high school volleyball tournament in Gladstone on Saturday.
The Redettes came in third place in their pool with two wins against Escanaba and a split of two games against Norway. MSHS also lost its two games to both eventual champion Houghton and semifinalist Gwinn.
Junior outside hitter Hunter Viitala led Marquette with 18 kills and 17 digs, while junior outside hitter Kirsten Iwanski had six service aces and senior middle hitter Tayler Smith three blocks.
Area players named to the all-tournament team included Chelsea Moton, Katie Aho and Bella Wedig of Gwinn and Sinead Korvela of Ishpeming.
