'The Intouchables' to be screened
MARQUETTE - Peter White Public Library will show the movie "The Intouchables" at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Community Room.
This French film stars Omar Sy who plays Driss, a young, unemployed Senegalese immigrant hired to be the caregiver for a very wealthy quadriplegic, Philippe, played by Francois Cluzet.
The relationship the two lead is delightful in this very touching and funny film. The movie is based on a true story.
Abdel Sellou, the real Driss, published his memoir, "You Changed My Life, shortly after the film was released.

Dance & lunch in Trenary Sunday
TRENARY - A dance will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Trenary Community Building in Trenary. Music will be by the 2X4 Band. Admission is $5 and lunch is $3.
Gibbs Planning presenting draft
MARQUETTE - The Gibbs Planning Group will be presenting the draft for the Third Street Sustainability Plan and Formed Based Code at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 17, at the Marquette Commons, Marquette.
The plan is the culmination of efforts aimed at creating a vibrant and sustainable Third Street corridor.
The public is welcome to come to either presentation or during the drop-in session for questions and comments at 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Superior Watershed holds meeting
BIG BAY - The Superior Watershed Partnership will be holding a meeting at 7 p.m.Tuesday at the Powell Township School in Big Bay.
The meeting is meant as an update regarding on-going, independent assessment of the Eagle Mine.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
Community meetings are hosted by SWP and independent of the forums held by Eagle Mine.

NMU set to host College Fair
MARQUETTE -Northern Michigan University will host a College Fair from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the NMU Jacobetti Center in Marquette.
The program is open to all high school juniors, seniors and their parents.
Representatives from about 40 colleges and universities, including several out-of-state schools, will be available to answer questions about their academic programs, costs, support services and campus life.
The Armed Forces and ROTC programs will also be in attendance. NMU staff members will be on hand to answer questions about the financial aid process.
Arts and Culture meeting changed
MARQUETTE -The city of Marquette Arts and Culture Center Committee meeting, which was originally scheduled for Sept. 4, at 5:30 p.m., has been rescheduled 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center.
Community members are invited to attend, and there is an opportunity for public comment.
