MARQUETTE - The 2013 Sonderegger Symposium is set to kick off Friday morning, with a full schedule of events related to water.
The annual event is hosted by Northern Michigan University and is funded in part by the Sonderegger family.
This year, speakers will touch on several topics ranging from an environmental history of the Dead River to early sport fishing in the Upper Peninsula.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and includes a continental breakfast.
Michael Broadway, dean of NMU's College of Arts and Science, will give the introduction at 9 a.m. and speakers will continue throughout the day, finishing with closing remarks at 4:30 p.m.
