Marquette Electricians go 2-2 at Motor City Cup in Detroit

MARQUETTE - New head coach Jim Jackson's Marquette Electricians Midget AAA hockey team opened its season by going 2-2 over the weekend in the Motor City Cup tourney in downstate Detroit.

The Electricians beat the Indiana Selects, 3-2, and the Ohio Prospects, 2-0. But the Marquette skaters fell to the Mid-Michigan Stars, 5-3, and to Team Cleveland, 2-1.

Wade Hanke led the way offensively for the Electricians with three goals and three assists in the four games. Lewis Paris added two markers and three assists.

Mitchell Kazmierczak, Marcus Andrews (2) and Noah Heichel also found the back of the net for the Electricians.

Also drawing assists were Kazmierczak (3) Andrews, Jayson Dahlquist (2) and Tristan Ashbrook.

Tanner Colborg and Brendan Higbie shared goaltending duties for Marquette, with Colborg gaining the shutout over the Ohio Prospects.
