Girls hockey events set by MJHC

September 12, 2013
By Journal Sports Staff , The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - Any area girls who want to give hockey a try may do so free of charge later this month.

The Marquette Junior Hockey Girls Division will be holding open skates from 3:30-5 p.m. Sept. 22 and Sept. 29 at Lakeview Arena in Marquette.

Girls at any age will find a skill and age appropriate team for them at the skates. Those participating will get a chance to give hockey a try before committing to the sport. Organizers say those who have equipment are to bring it to the skate. Otherwise, equipment and sticks will be available. Coaches will assist in fitting, but those prospective players must arrive 30 minutes early for assistance.

Instruction will be provided by USA Hockey-licensed coaches and other girls currently playing hockey.
