Woman dies in US 41 accident

MARQUETTE - Michigan State Police troopers have released the name of an Ishpeming woman killed Monday in a single-vehicle accident along U.S. 41 in Marquette Township.

Troopers said Becky Kinney, 25, died in the accident, which occurred in Marquette Township along U.S. 41 near Brickyard Road.

Police said the accident was reported at about 12:40 p.m.

Troopers said Kinney was eastbound along U.S. 41 when, according to witnesses, her blue pick-up truck crossed the traffic lanes and went off the highway on the north side of the road, down an embankment and into a ditch. Police said the Kinney's truck did not collide with any other vehicles.

A Marquette Township Fire Department crew members worked to extract Kinney's body from the vehicle. Marquette General Hospital EMS personnel were on the scene assisting state police.

Marquette County Sheriff's Office deputies were assisting at the scene with traffic control.
