MARQUETTE - Iron Mountain, with No. 1 doubles Elli McCole-Emily Chang recovering from a first-set rout, downed Marquette 5-3 in high school girls tennis Monday.
McCole-Chang clipped Marquette's Brianna Buhl-Taylor Rovin 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
"That last match of the day put us over the top," said Mountaineer coach Greg Stegall. "That was a big comeback. They finally started playing tennis last two sets."
Iron Mountain also garnered points from top singles Katie Brule and Olivia Truscott along with No. 2 doubles Kate Bugni-Emily Bugni and No. 3 doubles Kathryn Brown-Cayla Carney.
"Katie and Olivia battled hard and controlled the situation," Stegall said. "They showed poise against talented competition."
MSHS picked up wins by Alisa Annelin at No. 3 singles and Taylor Swajanen at No. 4 singles.
The Redette's No. 4 doubles team of Brenna Leafers and Aubrey Reynolds-Erspamer also won their match
