NMU volleyball: Wildcats fall to 2-2 with pair of five-set losses

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Northern Michigan University volleyball team dropped a pair of five-set matches on Saturday to finish 2-2 at the West Florida Invite.

The Wildcats dropped their first match against Missouri Science and Technology, 25-15, 18-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Seniors led NMU in kills with Lina Lopes posting 17, Kalli Herron 14 and Sarah Hamilton 11. Sophomore Alex Berger had 19 digs while freshman Meghan Supple had 15 and Lopes picked up 13. Herron also had nine aces and senior Kellisha Harley had 40 assists.

The Wildcats' rally fell short in their tournament finale against host West Florida, falling 25-20, 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 15-10.

Hamilton led NMU with 13 kills while Herron and sophomore Lisa Studnicka each had 12 kills. Harley had 43 assists, Herron had three aces and Berger finished with 25 digs.

Northern returns home next weekend to host Bemidji State, Minnesota-Crookston, Quincy and Lake Superior State in the Superior Oasis Wildcat Open at Vandament Arena on Friday and Saturday.
