Lloyd Frederickson

ISHPEMING, MI. - Lloyd H. Frederickson, age 87, of 1873 Hewitt St. Ishpeming went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday September 5, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient since August 9th.

Lloyd was born on November 13, 1925 in Ishpeming, the son of the late Alex and Bertha (Hodge) Frederickson.

Lloyd served in the United States Army as an instructor in Morse Code in Oklahoma during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from the service he returned to this area, and was united in marriage on February 21, 1948 to Jean J. Peterson who was the love of his life. Lloyd had worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for over 30 years, retiring in the early 1980's. During his mining career he had worked at the Mather A Mine, Pioneer Ore Improvement Plant, briefly at the Tilden Mine and had spent most of his time at the Republic Mine as a general maintenance foreman.

Following his retirement from Cliffs, Lloyd briefly worked in Colorado at a Gold Mine working to start a crusher operation. He will be remembered by many for his strong work ethic.

Lloyd was a member of the Good News Assembly of God Church in Ishpeming. His church was very important to him and Lloyd especially enjoyed the new church which he helped build in the mid-1970. His service to his Lord Jesus Christ was a highlight of his life and Lloyd often would fill in as pastor at Good News whenever he was called to do so.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jean Frederickson of Ishpeming; 3 sons Douglas (Jean) Frederickson of Ishpeming, Thomas (Helen) Frederickson of Ishpeming and Gregory (Nina) Frederickson of Negaunee; a sister Ellen Parkkonen of Ishpeming; 6 grandchildren Thomas (Krystal) Frederickson, Sarah (Todd) Kurian, Neil Frederickson, Laura Frederickson, Caitlin (Jeffrey) Woodward and Seth Frederickson, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rupert Frederickson and a brother-in-law, Art Parkkonen, whom he was very close to.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 2pm 6pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Good News Assembly of God Church in Ishpeming.

Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm on Tuesday at the Good News Assembly of God with Rev.'s Mark Broberg, Larry Hale and John Roy to officiate. Interment will take place at Ishpeming Cemetery.
