THAT'S A ROUNDUP OF UPCOMING ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

MARQUETTE - Negaunee native David Siik is on the cover of Runner's World magazine's September issue.

Siik, who's part of Ford Models, is a graduate of Negaunee High School and Grand Valley State University. He participated in track and field in both high school and college.

In the magazine, Siik - who is 33 and is also a running coach - offered his top racing tip: "Don't let yourself be defined by the last 10 seconds of your race - be bold and brave long before that."

This isn't Siik's first time as a Runner's World cover subject. In February 2006, he was featured on the magazine's cover and in a layout about ab workouts and he has been on at least three other Runner's World covers since.

He now lives in Los Angeles. Siik has also acted in several television shows and movies.

Marquette artists in ArtPrize

Three Marquette artists are competing for the $200,000 top vote and $100,000 grand prize in this year's ArtPrize, the world's largest art competition.

The competition opens Sept. 18 in downstate Grand Rapids and will feature thousands of artists from a plethora of media displaying their works in a variety of settings. Hundreds of thousands of people will vote on the art - and a dozen of the world's leading art professionals will jury - to decide the ArtPrize winners.

The Marquette participants in 2013 ArtPrize are:

ArtPrize includes artists from Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and other countries. More than 31 percent come from outside Michigan.

Time Magazine listed ArtPrize as one of "Five Festive Events You Don't Want to Miss in 2013."

Comedy show

Comedians Tim Bedore and David Dyer, who both make regular appearances on the "Bob & Tom Show," will make a special appearance at Marquette's Ramada Inn for two shows at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

Tickets - all general admission seating - cost $20 and are available now.
