MARQUETTE - Fall Flicks begins the season by hosting a screening of "Promised Land" at 5:30 p.m. Sep. 12 in the Peter White Public Library Community Room, Marquette.

This film is the story of Steve Butler, a natural gas salesman played by Matt Damon. He has been sent to a rural town to make offers to the townspeople for drilling rights to their properties. What seems like an easy job becomes complicated by calls for community-wide consideration of the offer by a respected schoolteacher and a slick environmental activist.

The film is rated R and runs for 109 minutes. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to bring their own takeout supper.
