The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - A children's choir is being formed to sing with the Marquette Symphony Orchestra and the Marquette Senior High School Redmen Chorale in the Dec.14 premiere performance of a "A Child's Requiem" composed by Marquette native Thomas LaVoy.

The children's choir will be co-directed by Esther Barrington and Jan Brodersen. Girls and boys ages 9-14 with treble, unchanged voices may audition at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at First Presbyterian Church in Marquette. Singers should prepare a short song, and be able to demonstrate vocal range and tonal memory. An accompanist will be provided.

Rehearsals will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Friday until the concert, starting Sept. 20. For more information, call 228-2661.
