ISHPEMING - It took some extra sets, but the Ishpeming High School girls tennis team outlasted visiting Iron Mountain on Thursday, 5-3.

The Hematites of head coach Erl Langness played four three-set matches and won three of them.

"We lost to Iron Mountain last week 6-2, so this was a big win," Langness said after his team improved to 3-4 with its second-straight victory.

Jaime Olson at No. 2 singles took a 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 win over Iron Mountain's Olivia Truscott in a match that lasted 2 1/2 hours.

"Jaime lost to that girl 6-2 and 6-4 last week," the IHS coach said. "But this time, Jaime kept her feet moving and lobbed real well."

At. No. 1 doubles, Ishpeming's Libbie Doney and Hailly Thompson prevailed 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 over IM's Elli McCole and Emily Chang.
