Patricia Ann Schmidt

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Patricia Ann Schmidt, age 63, of Marquette, passed away Saturday morning, August 24, 2013, in the loving care of her family and friends, as well as the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.

Patricia was born on March 25, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the daughter of Walter and Martha (Matthews) Hiler.

Following graduation from high school, she met Robert Schmidt while he was stationed with the United States Air Force in Wichita Falls, and the couple married on February 14, 1971. In 1978, Robert was assigned to the K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base and the couple established their home in the Marquette area. Patricia was a dedicated homemaker and worked outside the home for AMCAB as an administrative assistant. She was a woman of great faith, and served as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for the past thirty years. Patty loved helping people, and dedicated a great deal of her life to the Christian ministry. In her spare time, she loved to dance and sing. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watching old movies.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Bob, of 42 years; three sons, Christopher (Jasmine) Schmidt of Milwaukee, Steven (Christine) Schmidt of Alameda, Calif., and Douglas (Mindy) Schmidt of Ishpeming; seven grandchildren, Parker, Collin, Gabriel, Isaiah, Sullivan, Hannah and Micah Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Patty personally wanted to thank her dear friends Billie Haglund and Patty MacGregor, as well as the caring staff of Lake Superior Hospice for their wonderful care during her final months.

A memorial talk of comfort will be given by John Ferguson on Saturday, August 31 at 3 p.m. at the Marquette Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, followed by a gathering to celebrate Patricia's life at the Lost Creek Activity Room located at 200 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, Mich.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Lake Superior Hospice, 914 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.
