NMU football: Escanaba's Jace Daniels survives first cutdown with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

August 28, 2013
By Journal Sports Staff , The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - Former Northern Michigan University offensive lineman Jace Daniels of Escanaba has survived the first round of NFL cuts and will get to play in at least one more preseason game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bucs close the preseason at home Thursday against the Washington Redskins. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.

NFL teams started training camp with a maximum of 90 players on their roster and had to cut that number down to 75 by 4 p.m. EST today. Teams must trim their roster to 53 by Saturday and those on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list don't count against the limit.

Daniels signed with the Bucs this summer after rookie camp as an undrafted free agent. If he doesn't make Tampa's 53-man roster, he is eligible for the practice squad.

Tampa has 12 offensive linemen left in camp with Daniels listed third on the depth chart at center.
