MARQUETTE - The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center September artist exhibit will feature photographer Michael Sarnacki. This exhibit will be a collection of the last 15 years of his documentation of a sacred and old festival in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Since 1995, Sarnacki has made numerous trips to Sri Lanka to document the country and the event known as the Kandy Esala Perahera. During a 10-day period in July or August, the Lord Buddha relic in the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is worshipped by pilgrims from all across the country.

This exhibit will be displayed in the Huron Mountain Club Gallery at the Peter White Public Library. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept 5. Sarnacki will give a 20-minute talk about his Esala Perahera project.

For more information, call the MACC at 228-0472 or email arts-culture@mqtcty.org.
