The Mining Journal

HARVEY - More than 2,000 customers of the Marquette Board of Light and Power lost electric service for more than an hour today when a tree fell on a powerline in Chocolay Township.

BLP officials said the outage, which affected about 2,200 BLP customers, started at about 11:40 a.m. when a large tree hit a line along U.S. 41 near Foster Creek Drive.

The circuit feeds a portion of Chocolay Township, including the Harvey area.

At shortly after 1 p.m., power was restored to about 1,800 of the impacted customers, and officials said they expected service to be fully restored by 1:30 p.m.
