MCMILLAN, Mich. - Howard E. Shearer, 81, of McMillan, died Tuesday evening August 13, 2013, at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.
Born January 20, 1932, in Utica, son of the late David and Mabel (Crowe) Shearer, Howard was a graduate of Utica High School. Howard served in the United States Army 82nd Air Borne Division and later in the Army Reserves until his honorable discharge on July 15, 1960. Howard was a self-employed floor covering specialist for over 50 years until his retirement.
Howard had been a resident of McMillan for over 30 years, was a former member of the Lions Club in Germfask and B.P.O.E. #1705 in Newberry, member of the Ewen/Ontonagon Lodge F & AM, Newberry Shriners and the Ahmed Temple. Howard enjoyed his years in carpentry and loved John Deere tractors, hunting and spending time with his family, grandchildren and his numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his sister Jane Lacy. Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Biane, of McMillan; children Dave Shearer of McMillan, Kim Shearer of Sterling Heights and Pam (Calvin) McDaniel of Oxford, MI; stepsons Matt (Sandy) Burton of Newberry and Bill (Jen) Burton of Hemet, CA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sibling Frank Shearer of New Mexico.
Per request, cremation services were accorded. Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Sunday August 18, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a Masonic memorial service conducted by the members of McMillan Lodge #400 F & AM at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Williams, of Northstar Baptist Church, will follow with his words of comfort and inspiration.
