MARQUETTE - Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula, parent organization of Beacon House, Hospitality Gifts and Your Coffee for a Cause, today announced the promotion of Mary Dowling as chief executive officer.
Tavernini-Dowling will be responsible for HHUP's development strategy and execution and will lead the organization's family of services teams.
"Mary's experience in taking a strategic vision and executing on that vision has strengthened our position as a provider of services for patients and families receiving medical care in Marquette County," said Renee Prince, president of the HHUP board of directors.
Tavernini-Dowling brings more than 30 years of experience in management and marketing. Most recently, she served as director of development at Beacon House, one of the service organizations of the HHUP. She was responsible for development and implementation of Beacon House's largest fundraising event; the UP Celebrity Golf Classic with Steve Mariucci, as well as the overall strategy to improve the financial standing of the organization.
Founded in 2002, HHUP was created to establish Beacon House, a non-profit organization that provides patients, families and loved ones an affordable place to stay when receiving medical care at Marquette General Hospital, Bell Hospital and the Upper Peninsula Medical Center. In 2013, HHUP encompassed the MGH Gift Shop, now renamed "Hospitality Gifts" and coffee shops at MGH and Peninsula Medical, now renamed "Your Coffee for a Cause" when MGH/Duke LifePoint became a for-profit entity and fundraising efforts no longer fit their mission.
Funds from the shops proceeds continue to go toward supporting patients and families through efforts such as the Wig Salon, Heart Pillows and the Hospitality Rooms at the hospital, which are also soon to be managed by HHUP.
