MARQUETTE, MI. - Janeen A. Gauthier, age 75, of 428 Fisher Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Monday afternoon, August 12, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital, in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Born November 16, 1937 in Marquette, a daughter of Leo and Margaret (Harter) Gauthier, Janeen was raised in Marquette. She graduated from the Bishop Baraga High School in 1956 and worked for a time at Michigan Bell Telephone and the Marquette Branch Prison. She then enrolled at the Milwaukee Area Technical College and later Concordia Lutheran College, receiving an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. For several years, she was employed in security with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and then the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex, prior to retirement. Janeen enjoyed her friends, liked to travel, play cards, picnic,visit the casino, and go dancing. She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral and its altar society, and the retired Telephone Pioneers of America.
Janeen is survived by her daughter, Michele Lynn Gauthier of Darien, WI; grandson, Austin Anthony Medina and special son-in-law, Tony Medina both of Milwaukee; a sister, Evelyn (Joseph) Miron of Menominee; 3 nephews, Michael, Steve, and Jason; and a niece, Christine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Margaret Gauthier; and brother, Rev. Lawrence Gauthier. Friends may call at the Bishop's Room located at St. Peter Cathedral on Friday, August 16, beginning at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the cathedral at 12:00 noon Friday with the Most Rev. James Garland, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Marquette, as main celebrant. A reception will follow in Cathedral Hall. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
