Kenneth Irving Hill

HARVEY, MI. - Kenneth Irving Hill, age 78, of Harvey, entered eternal life Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.

Born in Escanaba on May 12, 1935, a son of Emil and Impi (Warpula) Hill, Ken was raised in Rock and graduated from the Rock High School, where he lettered in basketball all four years.

He attended Emmaus Bible School and upon his return, worked at the Upper Peninsula Bible Camp as a young man. Ken then entered the banking industry where he was employed with the First National Bank and Trust Company, Marquette, and later Wells Fargo in Marquette. While residing in Gwinn, Ken served as vice-president of First National Bank.

He retired in the late 1990's, concluding a career that spanned over 30 years. Ken's hobbies and interests included a love of fishing and being an enthusiastic fan of the Lions and Tigers. Ken was a member of the Rock Bible Chapel in his early years, later the Little Lake Gospel Chapel, and currently a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Marquette. He was also a former member of the Gideons.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Arlene E. (Hawkins) Hill; his daughter, Elizabeth Hill of Marquette; son, Kevin Hill of Stephenson; a grandson, Geric King-Hill of Stephenson; sister, Evelyn Hartman of Palm Coast, FL; brother, Leslie (Jean) Hill of Kenosha, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ron; and sisters, Ilona, Roslyn, and Esther; a niece and a nephew.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bethel Baptist Church, Marquette, on Tuesday, August 13, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Pastor Hank Steede will officiate. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Upper Peninsula Bible Camp, P.O. Box 338, Little Lake, MI 49833.
