School board cuts library aide position

ISHPEMING - The Ishpeming school board voted to eliminate a library aide position at a special meeting Tuesday.

The elimination of the library aide position from the middle and high schools library was made because it was found that two library aides were not needed, Ishpeming Public Schools Business Manager Tony Bertucci said.

The library aide position that was eliminated was the one moved from the C.L. Phelps School when the school was closed in December 2010.

"After the school closed we had a transition time to review what we need and don't need and we feel this is an area that we can make some reductions without impacting the students," Bertucci said.

The board unanimously approved the elimination of the position and to layoff the employee.
