SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI. - Esther W. Yelle, age 97, entered eternal life Friday, August 2, 2013, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming, in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Born September 5, 1915 in Green Garden, a daughter of Ernest and Elfrieda (Huebner) Wittler, Esther went to live with her grandparents, Theodore and Rosa Huebner, following her mother's death in 1919, and resided with them until her marriage. Esther was a 1933 graduate of the John D. Pierce High School and worked as a housekeeper for a short time. On June 30, 1935, Esther married Clarence Yelle, with the couple making their home in Sands. Esther was a special homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Allan (Jonelle) Yelle and daughter Karolyn (Harold) Wagner both of Sands; daughter-in-law, Roni Yelle; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren; sister, Louise Jackson of Marquette; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Clarence Yelle; brothers, Herbert, Edward, and Theodore; and sisters, Irene Radtke, Dora Beaviner, Laura Grimes; and a half-sister, Eleanor Papin.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Green Garden, on Thursday, August 8, from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm. Rev. Silas Schmitzer, pastor, will officiate. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.
