PESHTIGO, Wis. - The Tri-City North Stars won a pair of games in Peshtigo, Wis., on Saturday to advance to the Wishigan League tournament this weekend.
Preston Hutchens pitched the North Stars to a 4-1 win in the opener against Peshtigo, striking out 11 hitters in seven innings. He allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk.
At the plate, Eric Beauchamp went 2 for 2 with two singles for the North Stars.
James Larsen II drove in Beauchamp for a 1-0 lead that Peshtigo got back in the third.
The North Stars won the game with three runs in the fifth off an error, RBI single by Tony Zampese and a hit by pitch.
Cody Berg went 2 for 3 from the plate in Game 2 to lead the North Stars to a 4-3 win over Peshtigo.
Berg drove in a run and scored a run with a single in the second and double in the fifth.
Berg also pitched for the North Stars, giving up three hits, no earned runs, two walks and picking up four strikeouts in three innings.
The game featured four lead changes before Tri-City took over for good in the seventh off a two-run single by Hunter Larson.
