MARQUETTE - Two people were treated and released from Marquette General Hospital after a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon along U.S. 41 in Negaunee Township.
Michigan State Police troopers from the Negaunee Regional post said the incident was reported at 2:35 p.m. and occurred in the westbound lanes of the highway at the intersection of Heritage Drive.
Troopers said the crash occurred when Kimberly Larson, 37, of Negaunee was driving a 2009 Chrysler minivan and failed to yield to oncoming traffic on U.S. 41. Larson was on Heritage Drive when she pulled out onto U.S. 41 in front of a 1998 Chevrolet Sedan driven by Samantha Lawler, 22, of Marquette.
Police said both drivers were treated at the scene by EMS personnel and then taken to Marquette General. Troopers said there were two children in the Larson vehicle who were not injured. Police said all vehicle occupants were properly restrained with safety belts. Both vehicles were damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
The Negaunee Township Fire Department, Negaunee Township First Responders and Marquette General Ambulance assisted state police.
