Great event cited

August 3, 2013
Mike Shimon - Executive Director, Marquette County Habitat for Humanity , The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

On behalf of Marquette County Habitat for Humanity, we would like to publicly thank the generous local sponsors of our Fourth of July Fireworks Cruise fundraiser.

The Rotary Club of Marquette sponsored the cruise and Vango's generously provided delicious food that added to everyone's enjoyable evening. We want to also thank Capt. Wally Mihalik and the entire crew of the historic Isle Royale Queen III for making the entire event such a delightful experience for all the passengers on board.

I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our board of directors, and all those who made this fundraiser a sellout! With everyone's support, the event raised funds that allow us to continue serving families in our community.

The fact is a child's housing situation can greatly impact their health, their self-esteem and their academic success and future. And because our children are our future, Habitat's program impacts our entire community!

We look forward to dedicating six homes later this summer in Ishpeming, Negaunee and Princeton. In fact, when the houses are finished we will have built 90 homes for families in our community since our Marquette Habitat Affiliate was established in 1992.

All of this is only possible because our community supports us with donations of time, talent and treasure all signs of good stewardship and a generous, healthy community!

Thanks again to all our wonderful supporters!
