CONVINGTON - Michigan State Police continued searching for two armed robbery suspects Friday who are suspected of robbing residents of a Covington Townships residence Thursday night.
According to police, troopers from the state police Baraga Detachment were called to a residence in Covington Township at about 10 p.m. on a report of an armed robbery home invasion.
Police said troopers were told two white males with dark complexions, one of whom was armed with a long gun, and wearing hooded sweatshirts forced their way into the house and robbed the home's occupants of their wallets, identification and stole a handgun.
Police said the suspects fled in a white Cadillac Escalade EXT pickup in an unknown direction.
In addition, state police at the Calumet post issued a press release late Friday night stating that at about 4:50 p.m. Friday, two men posing as U.S. marshalls held two Watton area men at gunpoint and demanded a $10,000 ransom from family members.
Police said the two suspects threatened to shoot the two victims if the ransom was not paid, but then fled the scene in a white Cadillac Escalade without harming anyone.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call police at 337-5145 or 1-866-411-0018.
