Northstars fall in Escanaba

ESCANABA - Despite three hits each from Spencer Larson and Preston Hutchens, the Tri-City Northstars lost a 9-8 decision at the Escanaba Polecats in Wishigan League baseball action on Wednesday.

The Northstars, 8-7 overall and 5-5 in league play, will next play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday in Peshtigo, Wis..

Hutchens hit a double, knocked in a run and scored one Wednesday, while Larson also had an RBI, scored twice and drew two walks.

Teammates Adam Brugman and Hunter Larson posted two hits apiece, one of Larson's a double as he recorded an RBI, as Tri-City collected 13 hits.

Starting pitcher Dave Speaker Jr. went three innings, but didn't figure in the decision when he left the game tied 6-6. Adam Gannon went six innings in relief, giving up three runs. He took the loss.
