MARQUETTE - Local hockey fans wishing to get an early look at the Marquette Electricians Midget Major AAA U-18 hockey club this coming season can do so this weekend.

The Electricians, under new head coach Jim Jackson, will be holding their final tryout camp for the 2013-14 season. The tryouts run Friday through Sunday at the Berry Events Center at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

The camp is open to any players between the birth years 1995-98.

"There have been a number of (team) changes that have been made in the past few months," Electricians Chairman Brad Sullivan said. "It was important to the program that we take the necessary steps which will enable us to move forward and be competitive."

One such change is the team will no longer be affiliated with the I.B.E.W. Local 1070.

The club is also seeking sponsorship opportunities in the form of advertising on their 42-passenger bus, areas of uniforms, website/Facebook and on the players' warm-up suits.

Here is the tryout schedule:

Friday: Registration table opens at 6 p.m. Ice time will be from 8-10 p.m.

Saturday: Ice times from 2-3:30 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Player reductions may occur after the Saturday skates.

Sunday: Ice time from 9-10:30 a.m.

For more information on the tryouts or sponsorship opportunities, call Sullivan at 360-8592.
