Ishpeming High School student Bria Johnson was a national finalist at the Health Occupation Student of America Leadership conference recently held in Nashville, Tenn. The daughter of Stephen and Trina Johnson of Ishpeming, she is shown at the conference with her father. She is the first student from IHS to receive the national honor and qualified for it by placing first in the state of Michigan in the Competitive Event Human Growth and Development category. The health occupation curriculum is a career technical education program designed to help develop future health professionals. The HOSA program is comprised of Ishpeming, Westwood and Negaunee students and their adviser is Sharon Dishnow.
