Erickson solos for Negaunee band

NEGAUNEE - The Negaunee City Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Outdoor Performing Arts Center at the east end of Iron Street.

It will feature a trombone solo, "Thoughts of Love," by Gordon Erickson. Erickson, the director of bands at Westwood High School, has played with various groups throughout the Upper Peninsula.

Other concert highlights include "Selections from Les Miserables," "Dixieland Jamboree," and "Folk Song Suite for Military Band."

Marches on the program are "From Tropic to Tropic," "The Little English Girl," "Cyrus the Great," and Sousa's "Semper Fidelis."

Additional numbers are "The Rakes of Mallow," "Cha Cha for Band," and the traditional "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."
