Cliffs drubs Fox Negaunee

Iron Range Women's Softball League

In Class A action, Cassy Sandberg, Jess Syrjala and Ashley Pietro all went 4-for-4 to power Cliff's Natural Resources to a 17-2 thumping of Fox Negaunee. Tony Enrietti hit a home run for Fox.

Sisters trimmed Jubilee Foods, 9-7, as Anna Dompierre and Sandie Whitford both went 3-for-4. Jaylyn Martin added a double.

For Jubilee, Cathy Bertucci and Sheri Wooden both went 3-for-4.

Shannon Clemo (triple) and Debbie Zummak collected four hits each to lead Buck's Party Store to a 19-4 victory over Hickey's.

Nichi Sundberg (triple) and Mary Kaye Grady posted two hits apiece for Hickey's.

PC Medic edged Venice, 4-3, behind winning pitcher Eryn Hallum. Mitch Roberts slammed a triple for Venice.

Sarah Parkkonen recorded a homer among her three hits as IRACORE blasted Jasper Ridge Brewery I, 16-5. Paige Yoho added a triple and Courtney Waara a double for the victors.

For Jasper I, LeAnn Saarela and Steph Abata both went 2-for-3.

In Class B, Hair Hiatus topped Signs Unlimited, 11-9, behind a grand slam by Shana Caliguri and three hits (double) by Wendi Annala. Joanna Smail (triple), Becky Carlson (double) and Ashley Asgaard (double) added two hits each.

Brianna Harsch and Jess Koski both went 2-for-4 for Signs Unlimited.

Kathy Maynard posted four hits and Lynn Ball three as Paradise Bar outlasted Tino's 2, 18-14. Lori Nelson contributed a pair of doubles for the winners.

Chelsea Belanger hit two triples for Tino's 2.

Rookie's Too/Quality Car Care toppled VFW, 13-3, as Lori Marshall hit a grand slam and Connie Kontio blasted a home run. Teammate Penny Soucy added three hits.

Jeni Ogea went 3-for-3 for VFW.

Melanee Bess collected four hits - including a homer and a triple - to spark Dave's Collision to a 17-6 triumph over Jack's TeePee. Danielle Peterson and Shelley Roose contributed three hits apiece for the victors.

Gabby Croley posted three hits (triple) and Tina Maki two for Jack's.

Crossfit 906 trimmed UP Off Road & Performance, 3-2, behind two hits each by Lizzy VanBuren, Kim Koski and Liz Steve. For the losers, Arica Altabello had two hits and Jess Collins a double.

Pasquali's dumped Jasper Ridge Brewery II, 26-16, as Kara Havel and Nicky Frisk both hit homers and combined for 13 RBIs.

Casey Dugan and Jamie Pennel homered for Jasper II.

Class C action saw UP Fabricating beating Tru North Credit Union, 11-1, behind four hits apiece from Val Prusi (three doubles) and Jessa Johnson.

Becky Grove made seven putouts and Katie Myers fanned six for Tru North.

Becky Lawson (four) and Jordan Wixtrom (three) combined for seven hits as Country Lanes edged the Negaunee Eagles, 14-13. Ashton Kirchoff added two homers and Cassidee Kudis one among her three hits for the winners.

Martin Sports Apparel got four hits from Katie Johns and three from Tor Powelson - including a round tripper - in a 16-5 triumph over Palomaki Family Chiropractic.

For Palomaki, Katie Trudgeon and Rosie Korpi both went 4-for-4.

Taryn Gleason tripled and Brittney Vickstrom doubled as Eastwood downed Wooden Nickel, 19-14, despite two over-the-fence homers by Whitney Brugman and a double by Francise Higgens.

Rookie's I got homers from Ally Tincknell and Becky Powelson in an 18-4 triumph over Willey's Tire Shop. Monica Cox recorded three hits for Willey's.

Amy Bazinette, Chastity Ellet and Macailly Carlson backed winning pitcher Sue Bazinette with three hits apiece as the Negaunee Eagles dropped Martin Sports Apparel, 13-3, in a makeup game. Joy Prisk added a homer among her two safeties.

For Martin, Macey Mahoski homered and Carley Maanika turned in two hits.
