MARQUETTE - "Blue Skies and Butterflies" is theme for the parade which kicks off Gwinn Fun Daze Saturday.
The parade start at 10 a.m. and will feature floats, the Gwinn High School Band, the Negaunee City Band, the Ishpeming Blue Notes, Superior Pipes Band, Ahmed Temple Shriner's Marching Unit, Smokey the Bear, American Legion Post 349 color guard, VFW Post 5670 color guard and many floats.
The Gwinn Lions Club will host an Antique Classic Car Show from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. adjacent to Gwinn High School along Highway M-35.
Peter Nordeen Park will be the site for many activities including the Boy Scouts' Famous Rubber Ducky Races; a dunk tank; Jumparooz rides and slides; Loan Oaks pony rides; bingo; St. Vincent de Paul Silver Dollar Game; Black Dragon Tae Kwon Do martial arts demo; gunny sack races; the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby race; and crafters of all sorts.
Food sales will include Grace Lutheran Church's homemade pies; hamburgers; hot dogs; french fries; ice cream treats; elephant ears; pizza by the slice; and others.
The park also will be the site, immediately after the parade, of a concert by the Negaunee City Band and Superior Pipes Band.
