To the Journal editor:
Our team would like to thank the community of Negaunee, local businesses, the Irontown Association, and the many, many people who supported our recent quest for the State Majors Little League title.
Earning a place among the top 16 teams in the state was an amazing privilege; however because of such a quick turn around time between district and state competition, we only had a few days of fundraising to help off-set the costs to travel downstate for the tournament. Negaunee rallied around us and showed us what a community is all about. The words of encouragement and congratulations from everyone meant a lot to us.
Thank you to the many people who bought 50/50 tickets during the alumni games and in true Negaunee spirit, almost every winner donated a portion (or all) of their winnings back to our team. Our bottle and can drive was an amazing success, and people went out of their way to give or bring us their cans.
Even though we did not win the state title, we were honored to represent Negaunee and the Upper Peninsula We are proud of our community and the support that they have given us.
Thanks again, Negaunee Softball All-Star Majors team and parents (Taylor, Brooke, Payton, Chloe, Alexis, Molly, Malorie, Abby, Cassidy, Jessica and Faith)
