The Superior Health Foundation donated 50 percent of the net proceeds - $15,000 - from its 2013 annual golf outing to the Superior Alliance For Independent Living. With the $7,500 in proceeds, SAIL will purchase kayaks and adaptive seats to enable those with disabilities from all across the Upper Peninsula the opportunity to kayak. Pictured, from left, in the check presentation are Carolyn Severson, Dr. Daniel Arnold and Shelby Bischoff, representing the Superior Health Foundation Board of Directors; Jim LaJoie, executive director of the SHF; Sarah Peura, executive director of SAIL; and Jessica Manier, I&R Specialist/Events Planner of SAIL. Kneeling in the front row are Laura Jarvi and Lisa Verdun, employees with the Superior Health Foundation. Frei Chevrolet and Marquette General, a Duke LifePoint Hospital, were event co-sponsors. Each year, the Superior Health Foundation will select a health-centered, non-profit organization to partner with on the golf event. Details on the 2014 golf event will be available the first of the year.
