MARQUETTE - The city of Marquette's beaches are closed today due to inclement weather.
According to an alert from the Marquette City Fire Department, the closure is due to "high winds, surf, and cold temperatures."
The National Weather Service has also issued a warning related to dangerous swimming conditions today.
"There is a high swim risk today along the shoreline of Alger and Marquette County," the NWS warning reads. "A high swim risk means that large waves and dangerous rip currents are likely along the shore. Swimming conditions may be life threatening to anyone entering the water."
Beach status updates can also be accessed on the city's website at www.mqtcty.org/beachfront/default.html.
