PALMER, Mich. - Sharron Lynn Martis, 52, of Palmer, MI, died unexpectedly at the University of Michigan Hospital following complications due to a brain hemorrhage. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Sharron was born May 23, 1961, in Mount Clemens, MI, to Clifford and Ruth (Rioux) Fougnie and graduated from Algonac High School, Class of 1979.
She married Howard R. Martis July 14, 1979. They moved to Iron River in 1991, and then to Palmer in 2006.
Sharron was employed as an Emergency Department Technician for Marquette General Hospital. She just recently graduated with honors from Bay De Noc Community College's LPN Program, and was accepted into the RN Program to pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse.
Sharron was a devout member of the Bible Baptist Church, Ishpeming, was a member of Richmond Township EMS, and belonged to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She was passionate about helping others, and was a proud organ donor.
She enjoyed gardening, berry picking, and fishing with her husband, whether it was stream fishing for trout or for lakers and salmon on the Great Lakes. Most of all, Sharron enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 34 years, Howard R. Martis; 3 sons: Philip Martis of East China Township, Stephen (Ashley) Martis of Midland and Timothy Martis of Palmer; 2 daughters: Rebekah (David) Hall of Gwinn and Bethany (Alan) Shaeffer of Xenia, OH; 8 grandchildren with another grandchild expected this week; 2 brothers: Richard Fougnie of FL and Rob (Terry) Crampton of Cottrellville Township; a sister, Emily (Earl) McCartney of Marine City; her step-father, Edward Crampton of FL; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sharron was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19 at the Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming with Sharron's husband, Rev. Howard R. Martis officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sharron's 3 sons, her brother, Rob, her son-in-law, David Hall, and her brother-in-law, Earl McCartney.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday, and also at a reception in the church hall following the committal service at the cemetery.
