MARQUETTE - In Superiorland Soccer Association league play in the Under-12 coed division, the Giant Cabbages beat the Annoying Oranges, 7-3, behind goals by Levi DeRocher, Cole Dowrick, Eli Wiitala, Michael Walker, Nelhy Jeffries, Karsten Kamps and Cooper Smith.
Chad Pohlman scored two goals for the Oranges and Nathan Ostlund added one.
Gaetano Cammarata led the way for the Yellow Jackets in a 10-1 win over the Shadow Wolves, notching four goals. Andrew Fedrizzi and Ethan Sellers contributed two goals each, with Jaden Wrobel and Tanner Cain scoring one apiece.
The Shadow Wolves' goal came from Erik Becker.
The Stones beat the Wolves, 5-3, with Mack Vezina scoring three goals. Carson Dyer and Greg O'Hagan added one each.
Scoring for the Wolves came from Colin Bradley and Robert Scott.
On Wednesday, Blue Djibouti scored first and held off several comebacks by the Grass Stains to win 5-4. Dustin Burkman and Chloe Henning gave Djibouti a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes before Grass Stains' Trent Sweeney cut it to 2-1.
Then Blue Djibouti defender Perry Truscon took a shot three-quarters of the length of the field and made it into a score for a 3-1 lead. A Grass Stains' penalty kick by Trevor Borlace and Blue Djibouti goal by Anna Massaro made it 4-2 at halftime.
Burkman made it an uncatchable 5-2 lead with another goal early in the second half, though Djibouti came back with two goals by Trent Sweeney to pull within one and had several attacks as time ran down.
