CHANNING - Coming into the Mid-Peninsula League American Legion baseball playoffs as the No. 1 seed didn't help the Marquette Blues Saturday.

The Blues dropped a 4-0 decision to Hancock in action held in Channing.

"We're disappointed in the loss, but when you look at how young our roster is and the fact we went 12-3 in the league in the regular season, that tells you something," Blues manager Derek Swajanen said.

Hancock scored in the top half of the first inning on a walk, a hit and an error to take a 1-0 lead, all it needed for the win.

Tyler LaDuron for Hancock tossed a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts; McKinley Larson threw for the Blues and gave up nine hits while striking out nine.

Derek Stone had two hits for Marquette; Mike Saari rapped out three safeties for Hancock.

Kingsford (3) will meet Hancock (4) at 2 p.m. today in Channing for the tourney championship.
