To the Journal editor:
I am sure everyone has been watching the construction of the fire hall in Chocolay Township and probably have many questions about it. The Township Board and the citizens should be commended for their decision to build this much needed fire hall. In the last 50 years, our Township has grown and therefore we do need to keep up with our fire protection and facilities. We cannot say enough about the commitment our volunteer firemen make to protect their neighbors. They certainly need the equipment and facilities to perform effectively and safely. They do have countless hours of time away from their families with training and fire calls, which occur at all hours of the day and night. When I first came to Marquette we had little or no fire protection and since that time have grown into something we can be very proud of. I know I am very proud of our fire department and their dedication. This fire hall is to house the new equipment which is necessary in the modern method of fire repression. Please support this venture and the men who are volunteers. Hats off to them.
