To the Journal editor:
I'm not from the state of Michigan (visiting in the Upper Peninsula) but I think the people here should be allowed to vote on whether they want wolves killed in some sort of hunt.
I know everyone up here says they signed a petition awhile back to allow for a vote but now that's not going to happen because of the state passing some sort of law.
Why not just let people vote on it and be done with it? It seems like the easiest way to handle things and it seems the fairest thing to do.
Wolves have been around here a lot longer than people. They have rights, too. I don't mean that people should just let them (the wolves) do what they want, kill dogs or cattle or whatever. They have to be properly managed.
But allowing a hunt just doesn't seem like the right thing to do.
That's my opinion.
