NM Bank edges Cooper in Marquette Minors

MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan Bank and Trust and Cooper Office Equipment began the Minor League week of June 17 with a barnburner of a game on Monday in the Marquette Little League.

NM Bank held on for a 5-4 victory as the winning pitcher triumvirate of Braden Wright, Carsen Hayes and Erik Johnson each had hits along with teammates Luke Kostreva and Liam Rockwood. Aaron Grzelak and Jordan DeMay worked on the mound for Cooper.

On Tuesday, TriMedia bounced Marquette Rotary, 16-5, by amassing 15 hits led by Andrew Fedrizzi with four, Cooper Myers three, Sam Bartlett two and Duncan Hogan, Brock Taylor, Cole Brownell and Garrett Frayer one apiece. Myers, Bartlett and Hogan pitched for TriMedia.

The Rotary's Matt Anderson and Evan Gerry recorded two hits each while Brayden Grange, Robert Apple and Beau Belkowski all had a single.

Also on Tuesday, Frei Chevrolet upended Beauchamp Plumbing & Heating, 10-2, as Tommy Cousineau both pitched and picked up a hit for the winners. Skylar Robertson was Frei's other pitcher, while Bruno Delmont, Will Holder and Isaak Theile also had hits for the winners. Chase Seger tripled for Beauchamp, while teammates Austin Ridl, Caleb Bell and Owen Beauchamp all had hits and Ridl and Ethan Richards worked on the mound.

On Thursday, Frei held off Rotary, 5-1, with Cousineau, Lincoln Sager and Ty Lotterman getting hits for Frei and Sager and Kameron Karp pitched. For Rotary, Anderson and Theo Adams had hits and Jack Burzyinski pitched.

Another game Thursday saw TriMedia slip past Cooper, 10-4. Myers and Fedrizzi collected two hits each for the winners, while Hogan, Bartlett, Taylor and Ryan Marshall had one apiece. Bartlett pitched for TriMedia. Grzelak and Hayden Kauppila pitched for Cooper.

Marquette Majors

In play June 26, Subway came from behind to beat the Marquette Elks, 12-8. The winners scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Brendan Kaski, Kennan Johnson and Brandon Beaudry all recorded two hits apiece for Subway.

Austin Larson and Kaski combined for the mound win.

Nate Finkbeiner and Logan Holm collected two hits each for the Elks.
