MUNISING - One person died this morning in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Alger County.
The accident occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on Alger County Road H-15, which runs north from M-28 about 10 miles east of Munising.
Michigan State Police troopers from the Negaunee Township post responded to the scene of the crash and found a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier fully engulfed in flames.
After extinguishing the fire, troopers discovered a lone deceased occupant.
Police said this morning that the cause of the crash is unknown, but speed is believed to have been a factor.
The identification of the deceased individual is being withheld pending further investigation.
MSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Alger County EMS, the Alger County Sheriffs Department, the Munising Police Department and the Munising Township Fire Department.
