Trappers expo in Escanaba

ESCANABA - The U.P. Trappers Association will hold its 2013 Convention/Outdoor Expo July 12-13 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

This year's convention will include an array of trapping and predator calling experts from all around the country, some including: Ron Leggett (member of Trappers Hall of Fame) who will demo on fox trapping, sets, techniques, lures etc. Harry Taylor from Maine will show how to trap marten and fisher. Jeff Dunlap will return to the convention this year and teach on how to trap raccoon. George and Bill Porter will put on a weasel trapping demo.

There will also be a jewelry-making demonstration led by Tamie Lundborg. For the predator hunters, Les Johnson of Predator Quest will demonstrate his methods and techniques for calling coyotes, fox and other predators.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Admission is $5 for both days, free for ages 16 and younger. Food and refreshments will be available. Camping cost of $20 per night includes water and electricity.
