Woman’s arraignment set in stabbing case

MARQUETTE- An arraignment was set for a Skandia woman who stabbed a man Saturday in West Branch Township.

The incident occurred at 11:15 a.m. Marquette County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a man saying he had been stabbed with a knife, a press release said. According to police, when Michigan State Police troopers from the Negaunee post arrived at the residence they learned that a 43-year-old Skandia man and a 36-year-old Skandia woman -who were in a dating relationship - were arguing when the woman grabbed a knife and stabbed the man.

The victim was transported to Marquette General Hospital where we was treated for his injuries and released. The woman was transported to the Marquette County Jail and lodged pending review of charges by the Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney. The woman was released on bond Monday.

Name and charges are not being released pending the suspect's arraignment in the 96th District Court of Marquette on July 8 at 8:15 a.m. Assisting at the scene were the Forsyth Township Police Department and the Marquette County Sheriff's Department.
