ISHPEMING, MI. - Shea L. Heribacka, age 19 of 501 N. First St. Ishpeming passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Marquette General Hospital surrounded by the loving care of her family and friends. Shea battled gastroparesis, which developed into total digestive paralysis, a battle she had been fighting for the past 3 years.

Shea was born July 11, 1993 in Ishpeming to Joel & Melissa (Haukkala) Heribacka. She attended the Ishpeming Public Schools. Shea was a compassionate loving person who had a small group of amazing and caring friends who cared for her during her illness. Shea had a love for animals, music, and the water, but had a special love for her nephew Alec.

Shea was grateful for her Make A Wish trip where she shared the experience with a friend who also has the same illness.

Shea is survived by her mother Melissa Heribacka of Ishpeming, father, Joel (Tara) Heribacka of Sheboygan, WI, 2 sisters: Ashley (Matthew) Cody of Ishpeming and Rhea Heribacka of Sheboygan, a brother Darian Ahtonen of Ishpeming, nephew Alec Cody, maternal grandparents: Fran & Jim Lahtinen of Negaunee, Lynn & William Haukkala of Ishpeming, paternal grandparents: Anna & Richard Heribacka of Big Bay and Nancy & Kim Bengry of Palmer, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and her closest friends: Logan Heribacka, Rachel Pascoe, Billy Anderson, Rachel Peterson, Michael Perrault and Baylie Schmeltzer.

Shea was preceded in death by a special friend Roxanne Adams.

A memorial service for Shea will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Warren Geier officiating. Shea's family will greet relatives and friends at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
