MARQUETTE - A Marquette man was seriously injured in a pedestrian-motor vehicle accident Friday night.

City Police responded at approximately 10:22 p.m. to the intersection of South Front Street and Genesee Street in South Marquette. Upon arrival, officers found a 51-year-old Marquette man had been struck by a northbound vehicle as he crossed South Front street, a press release said.

According to police, when the victim crossed the street, another northbound vehicle in the outside lane had slowed for him. At the same time a 2001 Nissan sedan driven by a 34-year-old Eben man was driving northbound on South Front street in the left lane and was unable to stop in time and collided with the pedestrian.

The Marquette man was taken to Marquette General Hospital with severe injuries. Condition of the man is unknown.

No further information is being released at this time.
