GWINN, MI. - Bernard E. Marttila, age 60, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home.
He was born on November 6, 1952 in Ishpeming, MI, son of the late Bernard J. Marttila and Darlene (LaFave) Marttila. He graduated from Gwinn HS in 1970. On November 6, 2006, he married Mary Bonde. They resided in Plant City, FL, where Bernie was a cook for Bob Evans Restaurant for 16 years. He will be remembered for his love of the Michigan Wolverines, "Go Blue", and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Survived by his wife, Mary; one step-son and daughter-in-law: Nick and Amber, one step-daughter and son-in-law: Natalie and Rich; one grandchild: Zaylee; mother Darlene and Dad Doug; Grandmother Margaret; one sister Debra and husband Bill; one brother Daniel; one brother Russ and wife Leah; one brother Steve and wife Donna. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by; one son "Little Bernie", one sister; Meladie, father, Bernard, grandfather Edward.
By the request of Bernie, no services will be held. Cremation has been arranged by Brandon Cremation and Funeral Services. Bernard lost his son "Little Bernie" at the age of 4 to Cancer. Father's Day has been very difficult for him, but this year they were re-united in Heaven.
