BIG BAY, Mich. - Daniel Joseph Laurich, age 59, of Triple A Road, Big Bay, entered eternal life Monday, June 24, 2013, at his sister's home, in the loving, comforting care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Born May 7, 1954 in Marquette, to Joseph and Dorothy (Sandell) Laurich, Dan was raised in Marquette and was a 1972 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. For several years, Dan lived and worked in California before returning to the Marquette area in 1983. He was employed at Nagelkirk's, Shopko, and then for 20 years at Taylor Made Furniture as a carpenter-cabinet maker.
He made his home in Big Bay, tucked away in the woods and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just being at home in the great outdoors.
Survivors include his sisters, Patricia (Stan) Wittler and Nancy (Dave) Anderson both of Marquette, and Susan Laurich of Sussex, WI; his niece, Kelly Anderson; nephews, Mark (Deirdre) Anderson, Mike (Timarie) Wittler, Ted Wittler; great-niece, Kira Anderson; great-nephew, Brett Wittler; and several cousins.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring Dan's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services and burial will be private.
Dan's family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers at UP Home Health and Hospice, and many friends, for the care and many kindnesses extended to Dan and his family during his two year battle with cancer.
